Jerry Hise, Vice President of Facility Services
Jerry Hise has nearly 25 years of janitorial operations experience. He currently oversees all of Goodwill Industries’ contracts. Hise supervises management of more than 350 employees and oversees operations of over five million square feet of space daily.
In addition to his extensive janitorial operations experience, Hise previously managedGoodwill of North Georgia's donated goods program where he reorganized the entire operations system resulting in a 25% decrease in operating costs and a corresponding 20% increase in sales revenue.
Hise’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, MBA in Marketing, Master’s of Science in Integrated Property and Facility Management and a Facility Management Administrator designation through BOMA International (Building Owners and Managers Association).
Willie Merritt, Sr. Director of Facility Services
Willie Merritt has been in the janitorial operations industry for more than 35 years. As the Sr. Director of Facility Services he manages all operations, systems, and personnel.
Merritt has experience maintaining a variety of buildings including extensive knowledge in cleaning healthcare facilities. Before coming to Goodwill Industries he managed janitorial services for some of Atlanta’s largest and most prestigious hospitals.
He has earned a Facility Management Administrator designation through BOMA International (Building Owners and Managers Association) and a Registered Building Services Manager designation through BSCAI International (Building Service Contractors Association International). Merritt is actively involved in industry-related organizations. He is the past president and a current board member of the Peach State Chapter of the International Executive Housekeepers Association.
Barbara Umble, Director of NISH Contracts
As Director of NISH Contracts, Barbara Umble manages all federal contract sites, which includes overseeing execution of contracts and management of personnel.
Before joining the team, Umble spent over seven years in the human resources department of Goodwill Industries sister organization, Goodwill of North Georgia.
Barbara earned her Masters of Science degree at the University of Georgia. She has extensive custodial training with the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) and currently serves as President-elect of Peach State Chapter.
Smart Essien, Quality Service Representative
Smart Essien has more than 15 years of experience in the janitorial and sanitation industry.
As the Goodwill Industries Quality Service Representative, he is responsible for monitoring all work activities and ensuring that the quality of output meets and/or exceeds the contractual requirements. Essien also oversees and reviews audits to ensure Goodwill Industries’ compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standards.
Previously, he served as custodial training coordinator for Goodwill of North Georgia where he trained and certified floor technicians and general cleaners in training programs.
Daisy Bryant, Training Coordinator
Daisy Bryant is directly responsible for providing training to all Goodwill Industries staff. She administers job specific training as well as safety training.
Bryant also has 10 years of experience in the janitorial field, as she was previously a custodian at Goodwill Industries.
She also continues to keep abreast of new training and industry developments. Bryant recently completed a Dale Carnegie leadership training program and is the currently a member of the Peach State Chapter of the International Executive Housekeepers Association
